Colors of the Year 2021

Nowadays, there are associations, clubs, organizations, gildes and alike for almost every thing or every subject in the world.

No matter if you are a craftsman, hobbyist or member of a foundation or initiative, beside politics itself.

A good friend from Poland once said: everything is categorized. Simple but true.

One of these associations is the so called Pantone-Consortium - very much like the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), which some readers may know from a rather technical context.

The Pantone-Consortium is a union, which analyizes current color tendencies in the fields of media and ads, as well as fashion, design and other parts of the color industry. They - more or less - lay the foundation for the upcoming year and the colors you are propably going to see.

All right, so far, so good!

Looking back, it had always been a pleasure and a bit of an excitement to see what the upcoming colors of next year are going to be.

Now, so what?

Well, let’s take a look at 2021 and what the colors were back in that year. I guess, some of the readers may feel reminded of Corona, when I speak about 2021.

Yeah, that was a great time, wasn’t it? No? I get it.

Well, What’s the fuzz?

From my perspective quite a lot in terms of colors, some people may disagree, which is completely okay.

The Thing

In 2021, there had also been a color, oh wait - it was two colors. A slight irregularity, but let’s take a closer look, what those colors were.

Color psychology

At this point, I think it’s not necessary to explain the importance of colors to the world and what they mean for our mood or psychological state. When I talk about a nice blue, many people may immediately associate this with heaven or the sea.

Vice versa it’s the same with a color which makes one feel uncomfortable. I have to think of my kitchen when I moved in years ago - froggy green. Thanks, but no thanks. There had to be more neutrality (on the wall) - a bucket of white paint did it.

Illuminating und Ultimate Gray

Yes, you have read that correctly. The colors of the year 2021 had been

to get down to the point.

What a gooood choice. Don’t you think? A nice illuminating yellow comes acrosse best, for example when you are allowed to walk outside in order to catch some real sunrays.

In contrast, in case you are rather a dark-mode type of person, go for Ultimate Gray. It nicely fits to the color-tone of your concrete walls in your cell - ehh flat.

Sorry, this just slipped by concidence. Sure!

Corona-Dashboard

By the way, this just reminds me of the Corona-Dashboard.

What were the colors of the Corona-Dashboard?

As a reminder: The Corona-Dashboard, had been on YouTube when Corona began, basically informing and calming the whole world, with a well chosen bloody red and pure black.

It must have been coincidence, that these colors were picked back then. Sure!
